It’s kind of annoying when people tell you that you’re weak for not just dealing with your anxiety or depression or whatever. Especially if its coming from people who’ve never experienced actual clinical depression and are speaking from their experience with ordinary, everyday sadness. It’s also annoying how people with mental health issues are embarrassed by them and feel an overwhelming need to hide them in order to feel normal. They’re suffering because of something they have absolutely no control over, just like a person with a physical ailment, and deserve to be just as open about it. Sometimes the injuries or illnesses that are invisible to the eye can be the most painful of all. They seep into every life situation and have the ability to make even the happiest occasions impossible to enjoy. I wish more people would give mental health issues the attention they deserve and treat those who suffer from them with the same respect that they have for the physically ill. The suffering is just as real.
